Windows Project Letter 11 2011

Update on Church Window Project

November 16, 2011

Dear Friends of Red Oak Grove Church and Cemetery,

We have received the grant for $10,000 from Community Foundation of Cedar County and with recent donations now have funds to cover $22,000 of the window restoration project.

We’re close but haven’t reached the full $27,000 budgeted for the project. We are short $5,000 from
reaching this goal.

To date we have had fifty-seven (57) individuals/families that have given donations, ranging up to $2,000. Several donors have stepped up and given again for the project. It truly is a great joy to know the Friends of Red Oak Grove Church and Cemetery support and are willing to invest in this window repair project.
Thank you.

The Association’s Board has signed a contract with Glass Heritage, LLC of Davenport. Glass Heritage, LLC specializes first in the restoration and repair of historic stained glass windows, and have been called on to restore some of Midwest’s finest historic windows. They employ time-tested, age-old techniques and are well versed in the restoration process and of the historic value of each window they restore.  Pat Rogers, a Glass Heritage, LCC owner, has been trained at the Campbell Center for Historic Preservation, in the techniques of preserving stained glass treasures. They adhere strictly to the Stained Glass Association of America’s guidelines for “Restoration and Preservation of Stained Glass.” Glass Heritage, LLC aspiration is to preserve
the history and tradition of excellence in stained glass. If you’re interested in the work they do, please go to their website at www.glassheritage.com for more information, and view some of work they have completed.

Glass Heritage, LLC has work booked for the year, but given the possibility of a string of 40 degree plus days through the
end of November, the project could begin and be finished before year’s end. Regardless, they plan on completing prior to April 7, 2012. This is the date for a wedding being planned at the church.

Let’s hope for favorable weather and that we can reach our goal of raising that last $5,000.

We appreciate your continued support and donations to fully fund this project. Please send donations in
the self addressed envelope enclosed.

Sincerely,
